Custody fight for lesbian moms in Dallas. Case could set a legal precedent in Texas
The Dallas Voice uncovers a domestic tug-of-war that is surfacing in Texas news. As a matter of fact, this custody case may set a precedent in the Lone Star State.
Tracy Scourfield has cut all ties between her biological daughter and her former partner, Kristie Vowels. Vowels has filed a lawsuit seeking joint custody and the right to adopt the 4-year-old.
Lucy Durnin - from U.K.'s Pink News - is reporting that an Irish gay man who donated his sperm to a lesbian couple has lost his legal bid for guardianship to his biological child.
The man filed the proposal in court although he signed an agreement that he would not seek the role of father but - instead - act as a 'uncle' and have access to the child at the discretion of the couple.
Lambda Legal is defending a lesbian mother's relationship with her 11 year-old son against her ex-partner (the biological mother). The bio-mom claims that an antigay constitutional amendment - passed in November 2004 - invalidates the women's 2001 agreement to share custody of their son.
Christine Gaiennie (left) and Patsy Lovell (right) - from Placentia, California - have welcomed quadruplets. Both women work as civilians for the Irvine Police Department. They have been together 5 years and have a 2-year-old son by the same sperm donor as the quads. The couple met on the job 14 years ago, when they worked as police dispatchers.

The beautiful couple has been together for 5 years, and they started the AI process in February.

Huffington Post's Peggy Drexler underscores the good news related to state governments which support lesbian and gay parenting. Eleven states and DC explicitly state that sexual orientation cannot be the basis for adoption denial. Ohio was the only state - in 2006 - to introduce a ban. The proposed ban failed when backers couldn't generate enough support.
Drexler writes: "It was an admission, political observers say, that orientation-based divisiveness just isn't what it used to be."
Parents.com is saying Harlyn Aizley, author of “Buying Dad” and editor of “Confessions of the Other Mother”, did not attract enough visits on her Parents.com blog - called "Are You My Mothers?" - to continue being an employee at Meredith Corporation. She's been fired.
The LA Times is reporting a new trend in parenting. Some women are hitting their mid-40's and suddenly feeling the desire to have a baby.
"Egg donation and fertility treatments make having children in your 40's more possible. But you start getting into progressive difficulties for mother and child," said Dr. Ingrid A. Rodi, a Santa Monica fertility specialist.
