The man filed the proposal in court although he signed an agreement that he would not seek the role of father but - instead - act as a 'uncle' and have access to the child at the discretion of the couple.

Lambda Legal is defending a lesbian mother's relationship with her 11 year-old son against her ex-partner (the biological mother). The bio-mom claims that an antigay constitutional amendment - passed in November 2004 - invalidates the women's 2001 agreement to share custody of their son.

Becoming a birth mother over 40 is a risky trend. Fertility experts warn of various dangers to both mother and babies.

The LA Times is reporting a new trend in parenting. Some women are hitting their mid-40's and suddenly feeling the desire to have a baby.

"Egg donation and fertility treatments make having children in your 40's more possible. But you start getting into progressive difficulties for mother and child," said Dr. Ingrid A. Rodi, a Santa Monica fertility specialist.
