U.S. surrogacy agency traveling to London to host private consultations

Our friends at Growing Generations are hosting consultations with prospective clients in London next month.

The private consultations for interested future parents will be conducted by Growing Generations’ CEO Stuart Miller from September 29-October 2, 2009. In addition to being a highly-regarded professional in the fertility industry, Miller, along with his husband, is a parent to a 17-month-old son born through surrogacy and egg donation.

Recession spurs egg and sperm donations

The Boston Globe examines an increase in egg and sperm donations, a trend some fertility experts say reflects people's need for new income sources during the recession.

According to the Globe, egg donor agencies in the Boston area report a 25% to 100% increase in donor applications compared with this time one year ago, and sperm banks across New England have seen a similar rise in applicants during the past six months.


Some parents frustrated over White House's handling of Egg Roll tickets

At least one news source is reporting that "frustrated parents are learning that piles of tickets are being handed out to 'special groups,' including gay and lesbian families."

Since 2006, the Family Equality Council has encouraged gay and lesbian families to wait in line for tickets to the event. Many gay parents have camped out and scored coveted tickets to the White House Easter Egg Roll. It's become an annual event for many FEC members.


Israeli gay couple receives maternity leave

Jewish news service, JTA, reports that Israel's National Insurance Institute authorized its first maternity leave for a homosexual couple.

The institute approved a two-month leave from work for a gay man, Yonatan Gher, following the birth of his biological son to a surrogate mother. His male partner has begun official adoption procedures.
