2nd parent Adoption

Hey all. We have just found out we are pregnant and due at the end of august. We would love to try and get all the legal stuff worked out now or at least so we know what is coming.
We are legally married and live in Massachusetts and wondering if anyone else has gone through this process. Will my wife be able to be on the birth certificate when we fill it out at the hospital? What steps should we take as far as the 2nd parent adoption so we can travel and such? Also, is there any way to avoid lawyer fees during this process? Any info or personal experience you have would be much appreciated! Thanks so much!!
