2nd Parent Adoption

My partner and I lives in Lawrenceville Georgia and are expecting our first baby (we're 12 weeks). We have no clue where we should start the process for 2nd parent adoption. If anyone have any information on this process please let us know. Any information on this subject will be greatly appreciated.

my partner and i have a 20mo old son and live in st simons island,GA. we have done some research on 2nd parent adoptions and all the outlets we have tried all pretty much lead to the same conclusion. the state of GA does not or at least has not granted any 2nd parent adoptions to gay/lesbian families. the atlanta area seems to be al ittle bit more liberal in some sense...but however no county in GA has granted one thus far. here is a website to kind of give you state by state facts on this issue. needless to say we do not wish to live here for much longer because having NO rights as lesbians is greatly going to effect our family in the long run. i hope you have better luck researching this issue than we have but i dont think you will. not in the state of GA anyways....

I have several friends in who have gotten a second parent adoption in Dekalb County. You just have to get the right judge...and lawyer

I know a couple who just came back from Georgia (to Florida) after adopting a baby and doing the 2nd parent adoption in Georgia (atlanta area).

I'm not sure what county you live in but I live in Hall County and I know that they will do a 2nd parent adoption here. (I was able to do mine pretty easily) I also know it is possible in Dekalb County and in Fulton County. I would be happy to share with you our experience if you are interested.

wanted to know if you could share with me the steps you and your partner took. I have a 8 month old and I am trying to do the second parent adoption as well. I live in Paulding county

Would love to chat with you regarding the process you took. If it's valid in Fulton County I'll reside there long enough to get the paperwork needed to qualify my partner and I to both be legal guardians to our children. it's important to us and our families that we both have guardianship of our little ones. Thanks. Oh, we currently reside in Cobb county. Good luck to us I say.
