Tourism officials in Nashville are working to bring more gay and lesbian visitors to their town. Convention and visitor bureaus across the country have been targeting gay and lesbian travelers because it's a demographic that many think is underserved. Experts in the field indicate 32% of LGBT travelers earn more than six figures, and that nearly two-thirds like to try out new destinations when they travel.
A similar initiative could soon be implemented in Knoxville, TN. In a statement, President Kim Bumpas said, "The marketing initiative that the Nashville is targeting is very strategic, and as we develop our future strategies we believe this is a market segment we will focus on as well."
