Gay marriage will boost California's economy. Thousands of same-sex couples are expected to visit

CBS News is reporting on a new study which examines the economic benefits of marriage equality in California.

The Williams Institute - at U.C.L.A. School of Law - projects that approximately 70,000 out-of-state couples will travel to California to marry there.

CBSNews.com says, "The study estimates that over the next three years, gay weddings will generate $64 million in additional tax revenue for the state, and another $9 million in marriage-license fees for counties."

The news source goes on to explain, "Researchers studied the economic impact of gay marriage in Massachusetts - the only U.S. state that allows gays and lesbians to marry - to develop their projections for California. They also used data from states such as Vermont that allow civil unions or domestic partnerships for same-sex couples."

Californians vote on November 4 to decide if the recent court ruling should be overturned.
