Do lawyers scare the ethics out of 'donor' conception and 'surrogacy' arrangements?

Have you been following the news on the maternity/paternity of Michael Jackson's children?

I have!

The latest news:
"dermatologist responds to reports over michael jackson's children"

He COULD have just said, "No, I did NOT 'donate' my sperm" but instead he (or rather, his lawyer) said:

"Because of patient confidentiality, Dr. Klein will make no statement on any reports or allegations. "

Sounds a bit like what my mother's obgyn wrote to me:
"I am sorry that I am unable to give you any information. I cannot reveal this because of patient-physician confidentiality which is legally binding"

Their lawyers must have been reading from the same book!

I'm SO disappointed that he is not coming out, making a statement of support and love for these children and just doing the RIGHT thing. It could have make quite a positive public statement on our behalf.

His lawyer probably scared the ethics out of him --

BUT, it doesn't need to be this way. Doing the right thing takes a leap of faith and trust.

Lawyers are NOT the best advisers on these human interest/ethical issues.

Hopefully, these connections will happen in a private manner.
If not, this man's conscience will haunt him.

I have a feeling that he will eventually go against his own selfish best interests and connect with these children in a sensitive way at some point in their lives. At least I hope, for all of their sakes.

These children are a gift. Their bio father/mother/surrogates/non-bio-family are ALSO a gift. We ALL have plenty of room in our hearts for many different people in many different capacities.

Life is so short and so precious. Open your hearts and doors, take a leap of faith, love each other and carpe diem.

Don't let the lawyers scare you away from each other!
