KidsHealth.org shares a great recipe for the best tiny pizzas. This is a snack you can make with your kids. And - with 9 grams of protein, only 4 grams of fat, and 34 grams of carbs - it's a smart snack. It takes about 15 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 standard-sized bagel, cut in half
  • tomato sauce
  • shredded mozzarella cheese
  • toppings like diced green pepper, chopped onion, or chopped tomato (whatever you like)
  • seasonings like oregano, basil, and pepper

Banana Bread

Mashed bananas make this bread very very moist. More eggs makes it fluffier. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 3/4 c. sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. vegetable shortening
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. mashed bananas (about 3 bananas)
  • Utensils:

  • oven (you'll need help from your adult assistant)
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • mixer
  • sifter
  • spatula
  • small bowl
  • medium-size bowl
  • Homemade Peanut Butter

    This one's easy and great tasting. Let everyone get involved!

    Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 c. unsalted roasted peanuts
  • 1 tbsp. peanut oil
  • Utensils:

  • food processor (get help from your adult assistant)
  • bowl
  • mixing spoon
  • storage container
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • For smooth peanut butter:

    • Mix the peanuts with the peanut oil, and pour the mixture into the food processor.
    • Process the mixture until it's very smooth.

    "SO EASY" Yogurt

    This quick and easy-to-make snack is a great source of calcium. It may help you jumpstart the morning.

    Ingredients:

    3/4 c. light fruit-flavored yogurt
    1 tbsp. raisins
    1 tbsp. sunflower seeds
    1/3 c. strawberries

    Utensils:

    measuring cup
    measuring spoon

    SO EASY Directions:
    Mix all ingredients in a plastic cup.
