You will be hard pressed to find a greater advocate for reproductive choice than me. But as tragic as this case may be, I believe Ms. Evans needs a therapist, not a gestational carrier:
Egg Donation - Don't be alarmed, but an egg donor has been conferred parental rights, BUT it is because she is the mother and her sister is the surrogate. Although this case shocked me when I first heard about it, all is good. Good case for Indiana.
Here is the story: Indiana court rules egg donor can seek maternity rights
"A northern Indiana woman who says she donated the egg to conceive a child that was carried by her sister can have her name listed as mother on the boy's birth certificate if she can prove in court that she is his biological mother.
Egg Donation - The legislative agenda of Arizona's state lawmakers is now being made public. In fact, Representative David Stevens, a Sierra State Republican from District 25, is a primary sponsor of the following bills:
He is a primary sponsor of measures that would require physicians to give specific informed-consent information to prospective egg donors; bar the selling of human eggs; and another that bars in vitro fertilization of a human egg with anything but human sperm or the transfer of a human embryo to anything but a human womb.
there have been so many tears of joy today - it has been a "highlight day" of my life, and of my husband's too. We are so very happy with this pregnancy - and we struggled through 5 IVF cycles to get here. It is a dream come true.
Thank YOU, and thanks also to our egg donor from the bottom of our hearts. We are eternally grateful and my gratitude knows no limits - honestly, and will endure always.
I will keep you posted and send photos as well.
In appreciation, always - love to both of you -

There is no greater gift that a woman can give, then the gift of life. As we enter the second month of 2010 and some of those new year resolutions start to fade, egg donation is a selfless act that will forever be appreciated and may change the life of a woman in a way you can only imagine. Whether the donated compensation which you will receive matter to you or not, the act of giving touches the soul and remains forever appreciated.
Women, Their Bioloigical Clock, and Their Eggs - For women who are contemplating how to balance family and career, there is an important study out of the University of St. Andrews and Edinburgh University in Scotland. They found that women have lost 90 percent of their eggs by the time they are 30 years old, and only have about 3 percent remaining by the time they are 40. Well, what does that mean to you? That means that you need to be proactive in your decisions that you make now, as it may affect your ability to have your own genetic chilldren in the future.
Egg Donation and the AFA - the AFA has posted a great article by Dr. Piave Pitisci Lake, who writes as follows regarding utilizing egg donation in creating your family:
