Barack Obama promises full equality in adoption laws. Asks for support in message to LGBT Americans.

Leading Democratic candidate - Barack Obama - released an open letter to LGBT Americans this week concerning his steadfast commitment to our equal rights.

In his message, he reaffirms his respect for our relationships and families by stating (among other things):

"As your President, I will use the bully pulpit to urge states to treat same-sex couples with full equality in their family and adoption laws".

Here's his entire letter:

Obama addresses homophobia among African Americans. Gives historic speech in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s church.

The New York Observer is reporting on Barack Obama's speech at Atlanta's Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. served as pastor.

The Observer states: "Obama's speech will likely be remembered for his calling on the black community to do its part to fight homophobia, anti-Semitism and xenophobia."

In his speech Obama said:

Barack Obama speaks favorably about New Hampshire's legally recognized lesbian and gay relationships.

The Associated Press reports there was just one protester at the Statehouse as dozens of gay and lesbian couples entered into civil unions in New Hampshire in the early minutes of New Year's Day. A new state law legalized the partnerships after midnight.

In a related story, Senator Barack Obama today released the following statement on the new law:

The Christian Broadcast Network is curious, so Barack Obama addresses the fallacy of "special rights" for lesbians and gays.

Promising Democratic Presidential contender, Barack Obama was recently interviewed by David Brody - at The Christian Broadcasting Network.

Brody asked Obama about special rights for lesbians and gays.

The deeply religious Obama explained:

Candidate Barack Obama wants to federalize civil unions immediately. Each religion can make its own decision about "marriage".

Sen. Barack Obama made his first appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Monday.

Ellen asked Obama about his position on marriage equality.
