Annette Bening flexes muscles against Westboro Baptist Church at Golden Globes

Annette Bening supported Golden Globes organizers who kept anti-gay protesters away from the ceremony. Members of the right-wing Westboro Baptist Church, attempted to picket the event.

Organizers of the Golden Globes (the Hollywood Foreign Press Association) made certain the demonstrators did not get near the awards show.

Bening, who won a Best Actress Golden Globe at the 2011 Awards, says she found the protests disturbing, telling the Hollywood Reporter, “That made me very sad. They may have had (The Kids Are All Right in mind). I think that gives us all the more reason to go to the Golden Globes, and for the HFPA to see beyond that, (not) caught up behind the narrow mindedness.”
