David A. Paterson<\/cite><\/p>\n<p>NY Gov. David Paterson recently addressed the guests of the <strong>National Gay and Lesbian Task Force<\/strong>&#8216;s [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetaskforce.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">NGLTF<\/a>] <cite>2008 New York Leadership Awards<\/cite> dinner.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking via pre-taped video [below], Paterson said &#8211; in the &#8220;spirit of Dr. King&#8221; &#8211; that the GLBT community deserves equal rights.  He is proud to have run on a ticket with [former Governor] Eliot Spitzer, reminding the audience that the political pair was the first in the country to advocate for same-sex marriage &#8211; &#8220;and to win on that premise&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He vowed \u201cto push on until we bring full marriage equality to New York state\u201d and promised to fight for an end to bullying in schools, for transgender rights and for affordable health care for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Paterson concludes the video with a call to \u201cchange the face of New York which will be a catalyst for change in national policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n<object width=\"425\" height=\"355\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/LGvVO6CI5H4&#038;hl=en\"><\/param><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/LGvVO6CI5H4&#038;hl=en\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" wmode=\"transparent\" width=\"425\" height=\"355\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWe will push on until we bring full marriage equality to New York state.\u201d &#8211; New York Gov.
