That means the only type of gay or lesbian person it approves of is celibate and never married.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Treating us with respect and dignity, as Pope Francis does, is honestly <a href=\"https:\/\/friendlyatheist.patheos.com\/2020\/09\/21\/pope-francis-said-god-loves-lgbtq-children-as-they-are-but-there-are-limits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the bare minimum he could do<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to being the pope he said that same-sex adoption was a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/friendlyatheist.patheos.com\/2013\/03\/13\/new-pope-same-old-homophobia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">form of discrimination\u00a0<\/a>against children. In 2010, he urged religious leaders to pray against the legalization of same-sex marriage in Argentina because it would \u201cseriously damage the family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stands behind the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/roman_curia\/congregations\/ccatheduc\/documents\/rc_con_ccatheduc_doc_20051104_istruzione_en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Catechism of the Catholic Church<\/a>, which says homosexual acts are \u201cintrinsically immoral and contrary to the natural law\u201d and believes homosexual \u201ctendencies\u201d are \u201cobjectively disordered.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Period.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pope Francis\u00a0told a group of parents\u00a0of LGBTQ children last week that God \u201cloves your children as they are\u201d and that<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":17,"featured_media":27016,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[195],"tags":[482],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.3 -
