With passage in the House, the Parent\u2019s Bill of Rights is one step closer to becoming law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A growing number of LGBTQ rights organizations oppose language in the bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flsenate.gov\/Session\/Bill\/2021\/582\/BillText\/c2\/PDF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Section 3 of the bill<\/a>&nbsp;states: \u201cThe Legislature further finds that important information relating to a minor child should not be withheld, either inadvertently or purposefully, from his or her parent, including information relating to the minor child\u2019s health, well-being, and education, while the minor child is in the custody of the school district.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jonathan Mower of <a href=\"https:\/\/eqfl.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Equality Florida<\/a> said, &#8220;This bill could compel schools to out LGBTQ youth who are facing unsupportive or dangerous household environments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Struggles with identity, safety and mental health continually plague the LGBTQ community. Last year, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrevorproject.org\/resources\/preventing-suicide\/facts-about-suicide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trevor Project<\/a>&nbsp;released its National Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental Health 2020.
