Alfred Music Publishing, a leading provider of high-quality music products since 1922, has released of the most complete collection of sheet music from The Wizard of Oz<\/strong> ever published with The Wizard of Oz: 70th Anniversary Deluxe Songbook<\/cite><\/strong>. The film\u2019s groundbreaking musical score is considered one of the masterpieces in film music history.<\/p>\n

The Wizard of Oz: 70th Anniversary Deluxe Songbook features the classic songs by E.Y. Harburg and Harold Arlen and never-before-published \u201ccharacter themes\u201d by Academy-Award winning composer Herbert Stothart, the complete \u201cMunchkinland Musical Sequence,\u201d and the song \u201cThe Jitterbug,\u201d which was deleted from the original film. Each song is presented in its original key, utilizing rare M-G-M studio manuscripts and the original motion picture soundtrack. As a bonus, this unique collector\u2019s item includes two songs from the 1903 Broadway musical production of The Wizard of Oz, with lyrics by original Oz author L. Frank Baum. These songs have not been published in over a century. The songbook also contains dozens of original production stills and publicity photos, an essay on the story behind the songs and score, and biographies of the composers.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the Rainbow\u201d was named Song of the Century<\/cite> on a list compiled by both the Recording Industry Association of America [RIAA] and the National Endowment for the Arts in 2001. Three years later, it was selected as the number one movie song of all time for the American Film Institute\u2019s \u201c100 Years\/100 Songs\u201d chart.<\/p>\n

In addition to the piano\/vocal songbooks, Alfred Music Publishing has published instrumental solos of the entire catalog of music featured in The Wizard of Oz.
