Maple Leafs general manager helps launch anti-bullying website

Brendan Burke was 21-years old when he was killed in a car crash last February – three months after he came out to his father. Because Brendan’s father – Brian Burke – is general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the outing happened publicly. The father-son pair made headlines when it was revealed that Brendan was gay.

Proud parent, Brian Burke helped launch a new website dedicated to helping gay youth. It’s called MyGSA.ca, and it’s the first national resource of its kind.

The website was created to protect the human rights of LGBTQ Canadians. It contains resources for youth, including questions and answers about human rights legislation and how to start Gay-Straight Alliances at schools.
